Evian has once again enlisted English designer Paul Smith to create new packaging graphic design for a limited edition bottle that will go on sale in November this year.

Smith’s design wraps the bottle, scarf-like,  in his instantly recognisable, colourful stripes, capturing the playfulness for which the designer is renowned.  The design complements Evian’s brand vision with its connotations of health, youth and excitement.

Smith, who is well-known for his love of cycling, last collaborated with Evian on the packaging graphic design of a limited edition bottle which was available at all Paul Smith events and shops during the 2005 Tour de France.  The subtle addition of tiny people cycling over the Evian mountains might not have been immediately apparent but, once spotted, the additional graphics provided a quirky slightly comical surprise to amuse and engage consumers.

Evian’s designer bottle tradition continued in 2008 with a limited edition packaging graphic design by Christian Lacroix, followed in 2009 by Jean Paul Gaultier’s take on the familiar bottle, as well as a collaboration with Baccarat Crystal for a charity event.

By having fun with its packaging graphic design, Evian is living up to its “live young” maxim, while its ongoing associations with designers reinforces the brand’s position as the first choice for fashionistas everywhere.
